The following picture shows the proposed electrical scheme for the simulator. On one computer runs the flight simulator, which is actually FS98, as master. The other ones runs as slave and showing the panel. At the moment one computer is planned for panels, but with using FreeFD more stations will follow. To get more realism the outside view is thrown to the wall with a DLP beamer. It's great to using such a big image and I can absolutely recommend it.
The panel view PC is also the master, which holds all input devices (HOTAS). The sound goes to two front and rear speakers. Over a low pass filter also to a subwoofer. The drawing shows the connection to a 3D soundcard like SoundBlaster PCI 128, but I am thinking about connecting it to a Dolby Surround Prologic decoder. This will be decided by some tests. To handle the both PC's during startup or configuring the keyboard and mouse can be switched between the PC's. |
